Rachel Funnell is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Ohio and Florida. She received her Master’s in Clinical Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy, at La Salle University in 2008.

Rachel began her therapy career as an individual adult therapist at a community mental health center in Alabama where she worked with adults with severe mental health disorders. She quickly got promoted to Adult Day Treatment Coordinator where she taught groups on coping skills, social skills, and basic living skills.

Rachel moved to New Hampshire in 2013 to work in Massachusetts as an In Home Clinician to youth struggling with behavioral and emotional issues. She provided individual and family therapy and assisted families with identifying different ways to manage their current concerns. Rachel then was promoted to the In Home Therapy Manager, in which she oversaw the everyday operations of the in home therapy program. She also supervised Master’s and Bachelor’s level staff. While continuing to work at the In Home Therapy agency, Rachel worked part time at a private practice practice providing individual, couples and family therapy.

In 2018, Rachel and her family moved to Florida. She began to work at a private practice that primarily focused on working with children and teenagers. This is where Rachel was trained in PCIT and the adaptations PCIT-OC (older child) and PCIT-SM (selective mutism). Rachel went on to be certified in PCIT, became a Within Agency Trainer for PCIT and is certified in PCIT-SM. She also piloted cases using the PCIT adaptation for Older Child manual while it was being developed and after. She contributed to initial outcome data and offered feedback to manual authors while they developed the manual. In addition to working with children and teenagers, Rachel worked with adults, families and couples. Rachel has completed the Level 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and uses this method in her couples therapy. She is also trained in DBT to help clients with extreme emotional dysregulation and self-harm behaviors.

Rachel became licensed as an IMFT in Ohio in 2023 before her family eventually moved there in 2024. Upon moving to Ohio, she decided that it was time to open up her own private practice, Redefining You Counseling Services. She currently provides telehealth therapy to those in Ohio and Florida. In the near future, Rachel will be providing in person services to those in surrounding Chesterland area.

During her career, Rachel has been certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid and as an A-CRA clinician. (A-CRA is a behavioral intervention that seeks to increase the family, social, and educational/vocational reinforcers of an adolescent to support recovery from substance abuse and dependence.) She has been trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and has supervised clinicians in TF-CBT.

Rachel specializes in supporting children, adults, couples and families who have experienced life transitions, emotional and behavioral issues, ADHD, ODD, trauma, anxiety, depression, divorce, and relationship concerns. Rachel uses a strength based, solution focused, systemic approach in her work that focuses on understanding her clients’ individual needs within the context of their family, school and/or work environments and how each environment affects their life. Rachel incorporates cognitive behavioral interventions to assist people in changing the way they think in order to help them change how they feel and behave.
